Babs West of WFTV (WTFTV?) interviews Biden

Freedom of speech is good. It allows news anchors like Barbara West to air their slanted questions against candidates they pretty much despise. Biden made sure to point that out.

Ως λαός, είμαστε υπερβολικά σίγουροι και νομίζω ότι θα είναι καλύτερα από τους άλλους ανθρώπους. Αυτό είναι χαζό. Πώς μπορούμε να είμαστε καλύτερα από άλλα άτομα όταν είμαστε αδέλφια από την αρχή;

Things All Work Out

For the last month, things have been so busy. Yes, I know, we are all busy people, but for myself, a guy who enjoys quiet moments (seldom getting them) and enjoying just a glance at the sea, or the valleys, I've been remiss. I let things get in the way and I find myself missing the simple pleasures. Hey, that's not me!

Soon, my friends and I will be jaunting over to Vancouver, Victoria for a week of rest and well, just hanging out. The intent of this trip was to have no intinerary.

That's a laugh. No sooner is the plan to make this trip when suddenly there are places to see and people to meet. No itinerary indeed.

MySpace Not Working

Well, it seems MySpace is not working for me. I don't know why. I have two different computers and they both are not receptive of the site. Poor me.

Thank the gods for Blogger. I can still input my two cents of opinion.

All is quiet on the home front these past few days. I love it. Going out at the drop of a hat can get pretty annoying, after a while. Good thing I have good friends to lean on.

July 4th 1776

My mother's ancestors fought in the American Revolution of 1776 - 1784, expelling the British military, then establishing a fledgling nation. The new nation struggled with its inner demons, often making horrible mistakes, yet, overcoming many of them. It was not a glorious history, like many would like to envision it, yet it was our history. My history. My ancestors were a part of it and helped to shape this part of the globe, for better, or worse.

Eventually, they came to Hawaii, another sad part of American history. Still, from this union, however sad, my parents met and I came into the picture, including my siblings and their offspring. How prolific we are.

How do I feel about Hawaiian sovereignty without betraying my two, separate cultural backgrounds? I leave it to those who feel it matters the most and hope they do not destroy one another because of the differences.

I am American, yet I strongly identify with my Pacific heritage. Let others worry about the flags they wave. I have enough to deal with my own life, to see it's fulfillment, to see whether or not it makes enough waves to touch the people I hope them to touch.

History will have enough to be without having to mention my name. A plus there.

He Walks!

Dwane needed an arm to keep him steady so I met him at the Sand Bar where he'd been visiting Romana and the gang. I encourage him to do that and so he does it readily.
He needed to use the facilities and up he stood, walking toward the restrooms, using nothing to aid him. No cane, no walker, no wheelchair.
A miracle! It took a moment for it to sink in that Dwane was on the mend, if not already. Everyone at the Sand Bar is proud of his progress. I am, especially.

Discussions Of Summer

Tomorrow begins the cycle all over again. Summer begins tomorrow and I ponder the activities about to take place, or not. Will Raven return to the island with a cell phone welded to his ear? Will he actually become human and communicate with us, or find another avenue to test the limits of adults? News at 11:00.

He's a year older now. Fifteen journies around the sun. All I have is a brief memory of his left eye peeking out of a tangled mane of hair. Peek-a-boo!

I'm eager to see him again. We both are.

Our sun screens are ready. My bathing suit needs mending and I dare not try them on these days. It wouldn't be pretty. Ah Summer.

Raven

Long Time No See

Sick people take up your time. Dwane does mine, but I don't complain. It's just a fact. He's doing so much better now, especially after he poopied! Good boy, D!!!

We set up our new laptop recently, then the wireless printer. Odd having two computers now. We seldom use the laptop. Hopefully, we didn't waste our money. Hate to see it go to waste.

Found a venue where I can get some news, other than the newspaper, or Yahoo, or even Google news. MySpace has some interesting reads. You can even leave comments on an article. There is the usual banter among commentators, but that is expected.

It's different.

Great To See Good Friends

We thought for sure we would miss seeing our good friends from Indiana because of Dwane's accident, but they were so kind to call us, making time to see Dwane. They are two great people. Patrick and Jennifer spoke of marriage for a while and what do you know, they went and did it!

We're so happy for them! Things are looking up for them too!

He's home and I'm sick

I'm sick, but not because of Dwane being home. I've been sick for a couple of days. The weekend must have gotten to me. I felt horrible Sunday, then Monday. Now today. Hope to feel better tomorrow. Need my strength.

Dwane is resting soundly after a meal of Marie Calendar's turkey pot pie. He loves those things. Salty plus! Whew!

I gave him more of his medication to help him sleep deeply. He has a slight fever, but that's expected, I hear. I don't know, I'm no medicine man.

I worry for him. I hate to leave him by himself while I'm at work. Shouldn't complain. I'm not alone in these situations. Buck up, Skip. Dwane will get better.

Dwane comes home tomorrow

I got a call from Susan at Rehab of the Pacific. She asked me about my experience at home care, especially regarding rehabilitation methods, occupational therapy, etc. I've not much, I told her, but I did help him with his exercises. It did the trick for Dwane then, and I told her that it would be no problem to help him again with his therapy now.

He looked good tonight. He still goes in and out of sleep, but that's understandable. He went through a lot with this breakage. His hips are just plain getting old and brittle. Dang.

By the time summer gets here, he should be able and ready to receive his grandson who is coming to visit.

Dwane Does It Again

Well, we thought it might happen again, just not so soon. Dwane took a fall while I was at work and fractured his right thigh bone just below the hip. Ouch!

He's okay. A real trooper this time. Luckily, he had his cell phone with him or I would not have known about it until late in the evening.

Hang in there, buddy!

Dwane's Tattoo

Some friends from Denmark talked Dwane into getting a tattoo. Actually, Dwane had the desire for one long before they came up with a tattoo that Dwane really liked.

Braving it out, he got this:

Lars-Peter and Lulu visited us from Denmark and helped Dwane get a tattoo. Can't wait to get a picture of it to show it off!

Bush Lies Cheney Lies Rumsfeld LIES

An uneven clip, but still makes you pissed off.

US War Criminals - The Bush Lies Montage

No one listened as he snuck into office. No one listened for a long time. What will it take to make people listen, to realize this man and his cronies are really bad business. I support the ideals of America, not the self-serving ideals of this man and his henchmen. They are NOT America. We are America. Americans, wake the fuck up and get rid of this embarrassment!

Interesting, Isn't It?

Election year is here and suddenly Iran is threatening our ships in the Gulf of Ormuz. The U.S.A and Iran are in a posture. Propaganda abounds and this is perfect for Bush to push another war front.

Don't be too surprised to next hear of an Iranian speedboat sinking an American warship using a pee shooter. I am wary at our country's warlike behavior more and more each day this year. I see a lot of smoke screens coming up clouding the "real" action in the Offal Office.

To the Rasenna

The Iowa Caucus is ended and Obama has taken the ring. I heard him speak after the caucus was over. Wow, what a speaker. I intend to follow this man's progress. If anything, out of curiosity. I've not decided on which contender I shall cast my vote in the Hawaiian primary. As far as I can see, none of the candidates are unlikeable, or unqualified. I don't care what they say about each other.

All that GD posturing. Like a bunch of chimps fighting over a banana. Where's the dignity in the process? Well, like there was EVER any dignity in American presidential races, huh?

UH Triumph and Defeat

We followed Colt's rise to glory, not just him, mind you, but the team as a whole. Heartbreaking when he was targeted by the Georgia Bulldogs, but hey, that is what the game can bring out in opponents.
Colt Brennan will be leaving the islands soon and so aloha, kid. You have your education. If sports will not suit you, then something else even better will come along, right? Of course right.
Good luck kid. We'll always cheer you on.

With Friends

Dwane looks great here. Looks like 2008 will be a promising year. Now if I can get him to knock it off with the politics.
Ha! Fat chance, huh buddy?

Four in the morning and we old guys are still tossing shots into our bellies. The kids have long gone back to their hotel rooms, Tom is somewhere, but I don't care at this point (hic)

Happy New Year, you crazy people, from the middle of the sea!
